Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has strongly condemned the lathi-charge and confrontations that took place in Hansi and Ambala.
He stated that a similar situation was witnessed in Ambala due to the government's conduct, noting that the BJP seeks to govern through the use of force, whereas in a democracy, solutions emerge only through dialogue. “Time and again, and in every location, the BJP government proves completely incapable of handling law-and-order issues and deliberately creates situations of confrontation,” he said.
“Had the government immediately arrested all the accused following the murder incident in Hansi, such a situation would not have arisen. Similarly, had prompt action been taken against those accused of running over people with a vehicle in Ambala, the situation there would not have deteriorated. However, the government failed to act with promptness and seriousness, leading to the confrontation,” he added.
Hooda had arrived here to express his condolences on the passing of Jogender Pal Malik, the younger brother of former state president Dharampal Malik. Subsequently, he met with people at the office of Induraj Narwal, the MLA from Baroda, and addressed a press conference.
Hooda announced that the Congress party is set to stage a major protest and demonstration on August 19 regarding the demand to regularize 'Kaushal' workers and address their other grievances. Senior party leaders, office bearers, MPs, MLAs, and thousands of Congress workers will participate in the event.
“The Congress demands that all employees engaged under the 'Kaushal Nigam' (Skill Corporation) be regularized and that future recruitments be permanent rather than temporary,” he stated.
Speaking on the issue of guest teachers, Hooda noted that the court has ruled in favour of guest teachers, effectively endorsing the policy of the previous Congress government. “In light of this, the government should immediately regularize them and grant them the same benefits enjoyed by permanent employees. However, instead of doing so, the government is ignoring the court's verdict,” he said.
Commenting on the farmers' issue, the Leader of the Opposition stated that instead of trying to stop the farmers marching towards Delhi, the government should engage in dialogue with them. “Resorting to tactics that repeatedly halt farmers at the borders will not yield a solution, a resolution will only come from accepting their demands,” he pointed out.
Hooda remarked that the struggle waged by Gen-Z forced Dharmendra Pradhan to resign. "Had Pradhan accepted moral responsibility and resigned at the very outset, innocent students would neither have had to face lathi-charges nor endure such a struggle," he said.
