HP BJP alleges Congress govt collusion with private schools

BJP state unit chief Rajeev Bindal alleged that the Congress-led government appeared to be working in collusion with privately-run schools, which could negatively impact students from economically weaker backgrounds.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly criticised the Himachal Pradesh government on Monday, accusing it of shutting down public schools and favoring private institutions.

BJP state unit chief Rajeev Bindal alleged that the Congress-led government appeared to be working in collusion with privately-run schools, which could negatively impact students from economically weaker backgrounds.

Addressing reporters in Una, Bindal attacked the Congress party for failing to deliver on its promises, particularly its commitment to providing five lakh permanent government jobs. He questioned the government’s inaction, stating that unemployed youth were still struggling to find work despite the party’s assurances before coming to power.

He also accused senior Congress leaders of previously opposing the construction of key institutions like AIIMS.

Bindal remarked that while Congress leaders may not see the value of AIIMS, it remains a significant achievement for the state, made possible by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister JP Nadda. He emphasised that the institution has greatly benefited the public by improving access to advanced healthcare facilities.

Furthermore, Bindal criticised the Congress government for allegedly rejecting assistance from the central government, which he claimed was detrimental to the people of Himachal Pradesh.

He said that the Centre had allocated funds for medical colleges and institutions, including a specialised cancer hospital, but the state government failed to acknowledge these contributions. He pointed out that every time Union Minister JP Nadda visited Himachal Pradesh, he brought financial and infrastructural support from the Centre.

However, he claimed that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Cabinet ministers, and other Congress leaders never expressed gratitude for this assistance.

Bindal argued that instead of working for the welfare of the people, the Congress government was ignoring crucial support from the Centre and prioritising private interests.
