The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has canceled the Class 12 English exam across all exam centers due to an alleged paper leak, officials confirmed.

The issue occurred at Government Senior Secondary School, Chowari, in Chamba district, where teachers mistakenly opened the Class 12 English question paper instead of the Class 10 English paper on March 7.

According to the official exam schedule, the Class 10 English exam was set for March 7, 2025, while the Class 12 English exam was scheduled for March 8, 2025. However, on March 7, the board received an anonymous complaint stating that the Class 12 question paper had been accessed before its scheduled date.

Following the complaint, HPBOSE immediately launched an investigation. Officials reviewed video footage from the "Exam Mitra App", a digital monitoring system designed to enhance exam security.

On Friday, HPBOSE Secretary Vishal Sharma confirmed that the matter was taken seriously. Using powers under Section 2.1.2 of the HPBOSE Examination Regulations, 1993 (amended up to July 2017), the Board Chairman ordered the immediate cancellation of the Class 12 English exam statewide.

Sharma emphasised that maintaining the integrity of board exams is a top priority, and any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. The board has assured students that a new exam date will be announced soon. Students are advised to regularly check the official HPBOSE website for updates.

This incident has once again raised concerns about exam security, prompting the board to reassess and strengthen security protocols to prevent future breaches. Officials have also assured students and parents that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the mishap.
