A horrific case of domestic violence has shocked the Rajeev Nagar area of Borabanda after a man allegedly murdered his wife on Monday night and then callously updated his WhatsApp status with details of the crime.
The victim, 34-year-old Saraswati, was at home with her husband, Anjaneyulu, when a quarrel reportedly broke out between the two. While their two children were asleep in the next room, the situation turned fatal. Police say Anjaneyulu allegedly used a heavy stone to strike Saraswati on the head, killing her almost instantly, before fleeing the house.
The tragedy came to light in a haunting way. The children woke up and went into their parents' room only to find their mother lying in a pool of blood. Around the same time, the accused reportedly posted a confession or details of the act on his WhatsApp status, which alerted relatives and locals to what had happened.
According to those close to the family, the couple had been struggling with frequent marital disputes and had a history of quarrelling. Investigators suspect that a heated argument on Monday night acted as the final trigger for the attack.
The Hyderabad police have officially registered a murder case and have launched a manhunt to track down Anjaneyulu, who remains at large.
