BJP leader Rekha Gupta, designated as the next Chief Minister of Delhi, described her appointment as a "miracle" and a "new chapter," highlighting the transformative opportunity it presents for women in politics.
Addressing the media, Gupta declared her intention to hold those guilty of corruption accountable, stressing that every misused rupee would be scrutinised.
"It is a miracle, it is a new motivation and a new chapter. If I can be the CM, this means ways are open for all the women... Anyone who has been corrupt will have to give an account of each and every rupee," she said.
Expressing gratitude to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) leadership, she acknowledged the weight of the responsibility entrusted to her.
"It is a huge responsibility. I thank PM Modi and BJP high command for having faith in me... I will fulfil my responsibility with utmost honesty... My first priority is to complete all the commitments our party has made, and the second priority is that all our 48 MLAs will work as a team Modi. I never thought I would be a CM of Delhi," she added.

Gupta is scheduled to be sworn in as the Chief Minister at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi today. She will become the fourth woman to hold the post in Delhi, succeeding Atishi.
The city has previously had women Chief Ministers representing the BJP, Congress, and the Aam Aadmi Party.
A first-time MLA from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, Gupta has a long-standing association with the BJP.
She has previously served as the general secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi and was a member of the party's national executive committee.
During her tenure, she spearheaded several initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of marginalised communities and empowering women.
Gupta's selection followed days of speculation after the declaration of the Delhi Assembly poll results on 8 February.
