Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday said the state will achieve new milestones in development and rail infrastructure under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also thanked the Prime Minister and the Union Government after the Railway Ministry approved India’s first hydrogen-powered 10-coach DEMU train to run on the Jind–Sonipat route under the Northern Railway zone. As per an official statement, the train will run at a maximum speed of 75 kmph.
Saini said the project was an important step in strengthening Haryana’s railway infrastructure. The train will run on hydrogen fuel cells instead of diesel or electric power to generate energy.
It will produce a total power output of 1,200 kilowatts and will use Distributed Power Rolling Stock (DPRS) technology, where power is spread across the train instead of one locomotive.
The approval was given after technical clearance from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and safety checks by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS).
