Delhi Police on Thursday said they had busted an alleged ISI-backed terror module that was planning an attack in the national capital. Four young men from Punjab were arrested in connection with the case.

The police further said the accused were allegedly in touch with Pakistan-based ISI operative Shahzad Bhatti. Investigators said Pakistani handlers had arranged foreign mobile numbers for them to avoid being tracked by security agencies.

Police said one of the accused had surveyed police establishments and religious places in Delhi before the planned attack. He was allegedly assigned the task of carrying out a firing incident.

Police identified the accused as Shubdeep Singh (23), Gurjant Singh (22), both residents of Tarn Taran, Sajan Singh (28) of Amritsar, and Gaganpreet (24) of Fatehgarh Sahib. Three were arrested in Punjab and Gaganpreet was nabbed in Delhi.

During the operation, police recovered two firearms—a Zigana pistol and a .30-bore pistol—along with nine live cartridges and five cell phones.
