Members of the BJP Yuva Morcha on Saturday held a demonstration in response to the Congress party’s youth wing protest at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on Friday.
Led by Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president Arun Prabhat, dozens of protesters gathered at Kachi Chawni Chowk, raised slogans against the Congress, burnt an effigy of the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and demanded an apology from him for allegedly hurting the “honour, dignity and reputation” of the country.
A group of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers on Friday held a dramatic shirtless protest inside the AI Impact Summit exhibition hall, holding T-shirts with slogans against the government and the recently finalised India-US trade deal.
Although the protest lasted barely ten minutes, it has triggered a buzz in political circles. Security personnel whisked away majority of protesters out of the venue, and an FIR was registered against four youth workers.
Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president Arun Prabhat said the Congress activists attempted to disrupt the AI Summit, which was attended by dignitaries from across the world, thereby hurting the dignity, honour and reputation of the country and its people.
He alleged that Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly insulted the nation at both national and international forums and claimed that the Congress leader showed “sympathy” towards Pakistan and China. “Such actions are unacceptable. Gandhi should apologise to the people of the country,” he said, adding that the BJP would not forgive the Congress for what it termed an affront to the nation’s honour.
