Jammu and Kashmir administration has demolished the houses of two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists after the militants killed a policeman in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district late on Wednesday evening. The policeman, identified as Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, was killed when two bike-borne Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists opened fire on him.
Top officials said on Thursday morning that the house of Adil Ahmad Thoker, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist native of Guri village in Anantnag, was razed using a controlled IED demolition method.
In a separate operation carried out during the intervening night, a single-storey house belonging to Haroon Rashid Ganai, son of Abdul Rashid Ganai and a resident of Hassanpora Tawella in Bijbehara, was also demolished.
Haroon has been affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit since 2018.
The houses belonging to the terrorists were demolished during a joint operation by security forces. The action was taken following the terror attack on Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel in which one officer lost his life.
The incident has drawn sharp condemnation from political, religious and civil society groups across Jammu and Kashmir.
Security agencies have maintained a strong focus on dismantling terror support networks and taking decisive action against those involved in anti-national activities. It is pertinent to mention that Haroon Rashid remains active and is currently located in PoK. He was recently added to the most-wanted list issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
