The Jammu and Kashmir government has said it has carried out fresh surveys and identified over five lakh houseless and landless families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) across the Union Territory.
While responding to a query raised by PDP’s Pulwama MLA Waheed Parra, the government said 5,02,930 eligible families have been identified through the Awaas+ 2024 survey conducted as part of PMAY-G 2.0.
The government informed the House that district-wise details of houseless families and beneficiaries provided land or financial assistance for the construction of houses have been compiled and placed as annexures.
It said a fresh verification exercise has been carried out to identify families left out during earlier surveys conducted under previous phases of the scheme.
To ensure wider coverage, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir are facilitating land for eligible landless beneficiaries in coordination with the revenue department, following due verification under the scheme guidelines.
Government officials are carrying out regular monitoring, and review meetings are being held at the Union Territory, district, and block levels to expedite implementation and ensure timely completion of housing units.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) is a Central government housing initiative launched on September 1, 2024, to provide affordable housing to landless and poor families.
