J&K: Nine tourists injured in Qazigund road mishap

Nine tourists were injured in a road accident in Qazigund when their tempo traveller crashed into a divider on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. The injured, hailing from different states, were rushed to GMC Anantnag, where they are in stable condition. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

Emergency responders at the accident site in Qazigund, where a tempo traveller crashed on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, injuring nine tourists who were later hospitalised at GMC Anantnag.


At least nine tourists sustained injuries in a road accident in Qazigund on Thursday morning, when their vehicle crashed on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.

 

An official confirmed that the incident occurred near Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

 

He stated that a tempo traveller (registration number PB01B-7720), en route from Jammu to Srinagar, collided with a divider near the Power Grid Station at Nipora, injuring the passengers.

 

"The injured were rushed to GMC Anantnag for treatment," the official said, adding that all passengers are in a stable condition.

 

The wounded individuals have been identified as: Vikram Kumar (39), son of Deva Ram, resident of Rajasthan, Avala Krishna Chaitanya (28), son of Avala Bala Nagendra Krishna Murthy, resident of Andhra Pradesh, Aftab (46), son of Mohd Vaseen Saray, resident of Uttar Pradesh, Shanbo (38), son of Vakano, resident of Mumbai,  Khota (38), son of Maiy Ram, resident of Rajasthan, Ramlal (40), son of Shamlal, resident of Mumbai, Vabak Kumar (39), son of Vinod Kumar, resident of Mumbai,  Anil Kumar (34), son of Ray Kumar, resident of Kalwa, Mumbai, and Rahul, son of Rashpal, resident of Rajasthan.

 

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, and traffic movement remained disrupted for a brief period before being restored.
