Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested 11 drug peddlers and recovered heroin in a series of coordinated operations across Rajouri, Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts, officials said late on Saturday.
In the Bishnah area, Manjeet Singh, Vikram, Vishal, and Rahul Sharma were apprehended at Neelam Palace, Bhatyari, during a special operation.
10.62 grams of heroin were recovered from their possession.
In a separate case, Mohd Mansha was arrested in Dablehar, RS Pura, with 24.86 grams of heroin. Sonu Kumar was caught in Bakshi Nagar, Jammu city, with 8 grams of heroin.
In the Rajouri district, Riaz was arrested in Sunderbani with 20 grams of heroin. Waseem Yusuf and Taraf Mehmood were nabbed in Thanamandi with 30 grams of charas.
In Samba and Kathua, Abhishek Attri was arrested with 5.48 grams of heroin in Samba. Rupesh Kumar, alias “Bobby”, was caught with 6.75 grams of heroin in Kathua.
The crackdown follows Saturday’s major seizure of over 6.5 kg of heroin (worth ₹40 crore) by the BSF and J&K Police near the International Border in the RS Pura sector. The contraband was suspected to have been dropped by a Pakistani drone.
An official said, “Following inputs about drone-dropping material near the IB, BSF and J&K Police launched a joint operation and recovered over 6 kilograms of heroin.”
J&K Police has intensified its anti-narcotics campaign to dismantle the narco network across the Union Territory, leading to multiple recoveries of psychotropic substances and arrests of dozens linked to the illicit trade.
