Jharkhand celebrates Ram Navami, CM Soren visits Ranchi temple.

Ram Navami was celebrated across Jharkhand on Sunday with deep religious fervour, as devotees gathered at temples and participated in vibrant processions amid tight security measures.

From the early hours of the day, long queues of devotees formed outside major temples across the state, reflecting the spiritual enthusiasm of the people.

In the state capital Ranchi, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife, MLA Kalpana Soren, visited the Ram Janaki Tapovan temple to offer prayers.

Sharing greetings on the occasion, the Chief Minister posted on X, “Heartfelt congratulations, best wishes, and greetings to everyone on the holy festival of Ram Navami. The life of Lord Shri Ram gives us an unparalleled message of love, dignity, duty, discipline, generosity and sacrifice. The great ideals of the Lord will continue to inspire humanity for ages, nurturing it with an unending stream of inspiration.”

Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar also extended his wishes to the people, saying, “The ideal life of Lord Shri Ram, the epitome of righteousness, inspires us to walk the path of duty, truth, compassion, and dignity.”

Streets in Ranchi and other towns were decorated with saffron flags bearing images of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, adding to the festive spirit. Devotional activities were held at many temples, where the Hanuman Chalisa and verses from the Ramcharitmanas were recited throughout the day.

Colourful processions, some accompanied by music and traditional performances, moved through different areas in the afternoon, drawing large crowds of devotees.

Given the scale of celebrations, the state administration made extensive security arrangements to ensure a peaceful atmosphere. Security was especially heightened in districts such as Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Giridih, and Hazaribag, identified as sensitive zones.

Large numbers of police personnel were deployed, supported by the use of drones, CCTV surveillance, and body-worn cameras to closely monitor public gatherings.

In Ranchi alone, over 2,000 police personnel and 200 magistrates were on duty. According to Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Rajeshwar Nath Alok, surveillance was boosted with CCTV cameras installed at 650 locations and 10 drones monitoring the city for the past three days.

The administration also took measures to ensure smooth traffic flow, sufficient lighting on major roads, and the availability of drinking water and medical aid for the convenience of devotees participating in the celebrations.
