Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren

The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) passed a 50-point resolution, which included rejecting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state.

This decision was taken during the party’s 46th foundation day celebration at Gandhi Maidan in Dumka on Sunday night. "The CAA, UCC, and NRC should be completely rejected in Jharkhand," the party resolution stated.

Demand for strict land laws and pending dues

The JMM also demanded strict enforcement of the Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act and Santal Pargana Tenancy (SPT) Act, which protect tribal land rights. Additionally, the party urged the central government to immediately pay ₹1.36 lakh crore in pending dues to the state.

CM Hemant Soren criticises Centre

Addressing a massive gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren criticised the central government, alleging that Jharkhand was "cheated" in the Union budget.

He claimed that some people with a "feudal mindset" do not want Jharkhand’s tribal population to become self-reliant. Despite contributing significantly to the country's economy through mineral resources, the state remains underdeveloped, Soren said.

"The Centre should treat all states equally, especially backward states like Jharkhand. We contribute a lot but receive nothing in return. We even have to fight for our rights," he added.

Union Budget favours the rich, says Soren

Soren further claimed that the Union budget benefits only the rich while ignoring the poor.

"Tax rebates won't help because inflation is rising. There is no relief in GST," he said. Mocking the Centre’s GYAN scheme (Garib, Yuva, Annadata, Nari), he said the government is offering loans instead of direct financial support.

Soren also highlighted that Jharkhand is the first state to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women. "They (BJP) call it ‘revri’ (freebies) when we help people, but now they are making the same promise in Delhi. Is this not ‘revri’?" he questioned.
