A high-speed Lamborghini crashed onto a footpath in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, injuring a pedestrian after the driver allegedly suffered a sudden seizure behind the wheel. The luxury sports car, driven by Shivam — son of local tobacco trader AK Mishra— was travelling on an express road near the Gwal Toli area when the driver reportedly experienced dizziness and lost control.
Police indicate that the driver managed to steer the vehicle away from main traffic and onto the footpath just before losing consciousness, colliding with an autorickshaw and hitting a bystander, identified as Taufiq Ahmed, in the process.
Onlookers noted that the outcome could have been catastrophic had the vehicle been travelling at higher speeds, though the sight of the wrecked luxury car immediately drew a large crowd. While Ahmed was taken to the hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition, the aftermath of the crash sparked controversy. Locals alleged that bouncers linked to the trader arrived quickly, appearing more focused on covering and securing the damaged Lamborghini than attending to the injured man.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Atul Srivastava confirmed the vehicle is in police custody at the Gwal Toli station, though no formal complaint has been filed yet. "Action will be taken based on the application received," Srivastava said, adding that authorities are now verifying the driver's medical history to determine if he has a known seizure condition that should have precluded him from operating such a high-performance vehicle.
