Train movements on the key Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road route in Karnataka were affected in the early hours of Saturday after a landslide at Edakumari and Shiribagilu stations in Dakshina Kannada district, according to officials.
Boulders on the hillside slid and fell on to the rail track on which cargo trains were running, leading to delays in the scheduled services, they said.
As per the officials, Train No. 16511 KSR Bengaluru–Kannur Express reached Kadagaravalli at 3:40 am and was delayed in departure because of the block. Likewise, Train No. 16585 SMVT Bengaluru–Murdeshwar Express reached Sakleshpur at 3:10 am and Train No. 07377 Vijayapura–Mangaluru Central Express Special, which arrived at 6:26 am, were also delayed.
