Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Sunday joined a special Tourism Conclave held in Sonamarg by Trade and Hoteliers for the promotion of the upcoming winter season, officials said.
Arriving at Sonamarg, the President of the association, Furqan Ahmad, after welcoming her, said the tourism industry in Kashmir suffered unimaginable losses in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.
“We are working hard to revive this year’s season.”
Pinning hopes on the upcoming winter season, Furqan urged Andrabi to rally support for Kashmir’s suffering tourism industry.
She held a detailed interaction with the traders and hoteliers to comprehend difficulties and issues related to the tourism development & restoration, along with the preparedness initiatives taken here.
Addressing a gathering, she assured all possible support and pledged to work for the betterment of the people who have been immensely affected due to the lack of tourist numbers in 2025.
Andrabi said, "After the Pahalgam terror attack, the Kashmir tourism industry suffered a setback and the whole of J&K had to pay a massive price for the misadventure of terrorists and their separatist supporters from across the border."
“The Kashmir valley was ready for winter tourism. I will put in all my energies and influence to stand with the people associated with the tourism industry to make the winter tourism season a success,” she said.
