A youth from Ganderbal in Kashmir was among those killed in the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, which killed more than 11 people and left 20 others injured.
The victim, 32-year-old Bilal Ahmad Sangoo, son of Ghulam Hassan Sangoo, had been working as a cart-puller in Delhi. His brother, Farooq Ahmad, said, “Police officials have informed us that verification is on. His picture is circulating on social media, and we have recognised him. He is my brother.”
The family allegedly lost contact with him shortly after the explosion. “His phone has remained out of reach since then,” Farooq added. SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal confirmed that police received a report from the family that Bilal was indeed working in Delhi at the time of the blast.
“A family member will have to travel to Delhi for a DNA test, and the body will be handed over only after a positive DNA match,” the SSP added.
As per reports, Bilal’s cart was shredded into pieces in the Red Fort blast. “Kashmiri yahaan apni rickshaw lagaata tha (Kashmiri used to park his rickshaw here),” 45-year-old Shiv Singh Nagar told reporters here.

“I called him (Bilal) around 6.50 that evening to ask where he was. I had sent him to deliver some goods at Kashmere Gate. He said he was at the Red Fort traffic signal,” Nagar said. “And then I heard the explosion, and the ground trembled,” he added.
Meanwhile, days after a car exploded near the Red Fort in New Delhi’s iconic Red Fort, killing 11 people, investigators have said that all possible angles into the incident are being explored. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been tasked to probe the car explosion incident.
The investigators have also said that they are investigating if it had any connections to the recent seizure of 2,900 kg of explosives from Faridabad.
Separately, an accidental blast in seized explosives brought in from Faridabad to Srinagar has killed 9 people after it detonated inside a police station.
