The heroic efforts of three doctors who performed a high-stakes emergency procedure on a roadside at Udayamperoor to save a critically injured accident victim earned widespread acclaim on Tuesday, including praise from Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan.

The Governor commended the doctor couple, Thomas Peter and Didhiya K Thomas, along with Dr B Manoop, for their split-second intervention that rescued Linu Dennis from the brink of death. Arlekar personally called the doctors to express his gratitude, stating that such a humanitarian gesture represents the "highest ethics" of the medical profession and has invited them to the Raj Bhavan to be honoured.

Sharing the dramatic details on social media, VD Satheesan described the intervention as something out of a movie. The doctor couple, associated with the Ernakulam Indira Gandhi Co-operative Hospital, were actually on their way to church when they noticed two people lying on the road, bleeding heavily after a crash. Dr Manoop, an Assistant Professor at Kottayam Medical College, was also present at the scene. Recognising that one of the victims was in a critical state and would not survive the wait for an ambulance, the trio sprang into action. Using only the flashlights from mobile phones, they performed an emergency surgical procedure right on the pavement while local residents and police stood by to help.

The doctors managed to stabilise the victim in just four minutes, a feat Satheesan called "an act bearing the imprint of God's own hand." As Satheesan put it in his tribute, no amount of praise is enough for doctors who, without proper tools or a sterile environment, managed to pull a human being back from the edge.
