Over 1.27 crore women beneficiaries of the Madhya Pradesh government's crown jewel Ladli Behna Yojana will be provided with a monthly stipend of ₹1,500 post-Diwali, increased from the existing ₹1,250, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced. A special budget of ₹27,147 crore has been allocated for women, including ₹18,699 crore for the Ladli Behna scheme, he added.

"Ladli Behna Yojana beneficiaries would get ₹1,250 and an extra ₹250 on Raksha Bandhan. Post-Diwali, the monthly amount would be increased to ₹1,500," he said during a women's empowerment and tribal pride meeting in Sarai here on Friday.

He further added that 51 lakh girls have availed the Ladli Laxmi Yojana and received a total of ₹672 crore as assistance.

Ladli Behna Yojana was initiated by then CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on June 10, 2023. The assistance was initially ₹1,000 and was increased to ₹1,250 over time. The programme has been attributed with providing the BJP with a thumping victory in the November 2023 assembly elections.

Yadav added that over 9,000 tribal families have been given land rights under the Forest Rights Act. He vowed 33 per cent reservation for women in the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
