Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Sunday that any eligible persons still excluded from the state’s ₹1,000 per month financial assistance scheme for women will eventually be brought under the welfare initiative. Addressing a function, Stalin confirmed that the number of beneficiaries under the 'rights' scheme has already increased to 1.30 crore with the recent inclusion of 17 lakh eligible women.
"If even some more eligible persons had been left out, if they make a representation, they will be provided the assistance under the scheme; I have also said that the assistance amount too would be increased," the CM stated.
Stalin highlighted the state's economic performance, citing RBI data that shows Tamil Nadu topping the GSDP growth chart at a rate of 16 per cent, achieved despite various obstacles.
Turning his focus to electoral strategy, the Chief Minister urged vigilance ahead of the Assembly elections (due by March-April next year): "We have to protect our right to vote and we have done our work vigilantly... We have work till such time the Assembly election is held and the result is announced. You must not forget it."
He further instructed party functionaries to actively reach out to the public, highlighting the government's achievements and welfare measures. The CM emphasised the goal for the party to secure the honour of forming the government for the seventh time and ensuring the state's continued growth. “All of you should have a role in it," he said.
Stalin presided over the wedding of Ezhilmaravan, son of DMK's Dharmapuri West District Secretary P Palaniappan (who had previously served as a minister in the AIADMK regime), and lauded Palaniappan for his dignified behaviour and adherence to democratic ethos.
