Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Sunday that the state had signed 91 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at the TN Rising Investor Meet in Madurai, securing investments worth ₹36,660 crore and creating an estimated 56,766 jobs. Speaking at the event, the CM attributed the success to the "unshakable confidence" shown by the investors, stating that Tamil Nadu is firmly moving towards its goal of becoming a one-trillion-US-dollar economy.

TN Rising is a state government initiative launched in 2025 as a series of regional investment conclaves — starting in Thoothukudi, followed by Hosur, Coimbatore, and now Madurai — designed to support "balanced regional development" rather than concentrating large projects solely around Chennai.

Delivering his keynote address, the Chief Minister stressed that his job does not end merely with the signing of MoUs.

“I routinely review all departments, and because of this follow-up, more than 80 per cent of the projects covered by MoUs have been implemented, a level of output no other state has shown,” the CM claimed.

Stalin noted that to attract external investments, the state must first cultivate a conducive atmosphere.

Speaking about Madurai, Stalin emphasised that while protecting the city's ancient traditions, culture, and historic monuments is crucial, its present needs and future expectations must also be met.

"Is it enough if Madurai is known only as the city that nurtured Tamil through the Sangam, or just as a temple city? My wish and goal is for Madurai to gain fame as an industrial city as well," said the CM.

He expressed confidence in the city's growth, noting that Madurai is already rising as the information technology hub of southern Tamil Nadu. "With SIDCO industrial estates and the ELCOT IT parks at Vadapalanji and Ilanthaikulam, Madurai has the kind of infrastructure that can help it grow into a major industrial centre in the future," he concluded.
