In a bid to strengthen the ongoing security grid and assess the security forces’ preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Police Commando Training Centre at Sunjwan in Jammu on Monday, officials said.
Sinha took stock of the training programme, which includes specialised modules, activities, and practical exercises.
Senior officers from the Police Department briefed him on the overall preparedness and the ongoing counter-terror and tactical training of the cadets.
Sinha also interacted with the cadets of the Jammu and Kashmir police currently receiving specialised training at the centre.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Training and Special Operations, gave a comprehensive briefing on different aspects of the training modules being imparted to the trainees.
The senior cop also discussed the upgrading and expansion of the infrastructure and existing facilities at the centre.
Besides, DGP Nalin Prabhat, SJM Gillani, Special Director General (Coordination), Police Headquarters J&K, and Chandraker Bharti accompanied the LG.
Additionally, Principal Secretary, Home Department, MK Sinha; ADGP Headquarters and Director SSG, Bhim Sen Tuti; IGP, Jammu; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; and senior officials from the civil administration were also present at the event.
The Jammu and Kashmir police is one of the few state police forces in the country which is actively involved in direct counterinsurgency operations, tackling international drug and cartel nexus and also taking care of the domestic issues and general crimes.
