Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor addressed teachers, students, and participants during the Jayanti program at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on Wednesday, urging the people of J&K to actively participate in nation-building, with a focus on peace, development, and self-reliance in the Union Territory (UT).

During his inaugural address, Sinha said, “I congratulate all the teachers and students who are present here today on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday. Today, Seva Parv Swachhta Pakhwada is concluding, but let us continue with this cleanliness drive throughout the year.”

He highlighted Gandhi Ji’s teachings, stating, “Bapu used to say, ‘Be the change you want to see in society.’” He added that in 1921, Gandhi wanted to see his country take challenges head-on, and over the past 11 years, Prime Minister Modi has transformed the county.

While mentioning the government’s achievements, Sinha said, “Fifty-one crore people in the country are covered under mandatory state-sponsored life insurance schemes. We are the second-biggest manufacturer of smartphones. Bapu’s Swadeshi movement is gaining momentum again in our country.”

On Jammu and Kashmir’s development, he said, “J&K is progressing towards Atmanirbharta and Vikas. We all need to work together and collectively to change J&K. Gandhi wanted to see peace in J&K. Now, the youth of J&K have to fulfill Gandhi’s dream of a peaceful Union Territory.”

He highlighted various initiatives undertaken across the Union Territory, including environmental programs, cleanliness drives, plantation drives, and drug de-addiction initiatives.
