Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday extended warm greetings to the personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and their families on the occasion of the force’s Raising Day.
In a post on X, the office of the J&K Lieutenant Governor highlighted the CISF’s unwavering commitment to securing the nation’s critical infrastructure, describing it as exceptionally commendable.
Praising the force’s contributions, Lieutenant Governor Sinha said the nation is proud of the service and sacrifices made by CISF personnel. “I salute your bravery and steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation,” the LG said in his message.
CISF Raising Day is celebrated annually on March 10 to mark the establishment of the Central Industrial Security Force in 1969. This year marks the force’s 57th anniversary. Since its inception under an Act of Parliament, the CISF has grown exponentially and now has a sanctioned strength of 142,526 personnel.
Over the past 56 years, it has played a pivotal role in protecting critical infrastructure, including airports, seaports, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and other sensitive installations.
The force also provides VIP security, disaster management, and firefighting services, and has recently been designated as the nodal agency for drone security and the protection of private industrial units.
