Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over the Republic Day 2026 function in Jammu. All high-ranking officials from government departments and public sector undertakings in Jammu have been directed to attend the event as part of their official duties.
The main event will be held at the Maulana Azad Stadium, where Sinha will take the salute.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Republic Day 2026 celebrations are under way in Jammu and Kashmir, with district administrations mobilising resources for the event.
Security arrangements have also been tightened across Jammu and Kashmir, including along the national highway, as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident or law and order situation ahead of the celebrations.
Checkpoints have been established across multiple districts, and security personnel are conducting searches and vehicle checks. Similar security arrangements have been put in place in Srinagar too, where police officials are continuing to strengthen security around key installations across the Kashmir Valley.
In a separate development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi will chair a high-level security meeting on Jammu and Kashmir later today. The meeting will be attended by top administrative and security officials.
Officials said “The security review is focused on devising a strategy to completely dismantle the terror infrastructure in the UT in 2026.”
In addition to LG Sinha, the meeting will be attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and the heads of all Central Armed Police Forces and intelligence agencies.
