A 16-year-old youth, a relative of a local BJP leader and ex-MLA, was stabbed to death in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred late on Friday night in the Basti Danishmandan area. Three assailants allegedly attacked the boy with sharp-edged weapons.
The victim, identified as Vikas Angural, was rushed to a hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival, police said.
Police said Vikas Angural was the son of the cousin of Sheetal Angural. Sheetal Angural had earlier represented the Jalandhar West Assembly constituency as an AAP MLA before later joining the BJP.
Angural said that one of the attackers has been identified as Kalu.
Police said CCTV footage from the area is being examined to trace the remaining accused. Further probe is underway.
