Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Monday that the state government is actively considering a ban on liquor in religious cities to preserve their sanctity.
Yadav acknowledged that there have been complaints about the negative impact of liquor sales and consumption on the environment in these sacred cities.
He emphasised that the government is taking these concerns seriously, especially in light of suggestions from religious leaders.
"The state government is looking at the possibility of implementing a ban on liquor in religious cities by making improvements to existing policies," he said.
The Chief Minister assured that the government is committed to this cause and will make a decision soon. He stated that concrete steps will be taken to ensure that the sanctity of these religious places is maintained.
