Maharashtra Class 12 results: 89.79 pc pass, girls outshine boys

Of the 14,44,713 students who registered for the Higher Secondary School (HSC) exams held through February and March, more than 1.43 million actually sat for the papers, with 12,86,843 successfully clearing them.


The Maharashtra State Board released the results for the Class 12 examinations on Saturday, revealing an overall pass rate of 89.79 per cent. In a continuation of a well-established trend, girls once again performed significantly better than their male counterparts across the state.

 

According to the figures shared by Trigun Kulkarni, the chairperson of the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), female students achieved a pass percentage of 93.15, notably ahead of the boys, who recorded 86.80 per cent. Of the 14,44,713 students who registered for the Higher Secondary School (HSC) exams held through February and March, more than 1.43 million actually sat for the papers, with 12,86,843 successfully clearing them.

 

Geographically, the Konkan division maintained its reputation for academic excellence by securing the highest pass rate in the state at 94.14 per cent. Pune also had a very impressive pass percentage of 91.25, whereas Amravati, Nashik, and Mumbai remained above the 90 per cent mark. On the contrary, the area that performed the worst in this examination is Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, which had a pass percentage of 88.68, whereas Latur was the worst-performing region with 84.14 per cent.

 

As far as academic streams were concerned, the Science stream had the highest pass percentage of 96.44, whereas the Commerce stream followed closely with a pass percentage of 87.03 per cent. The pass percentages for Vocational, ITI, and Arts streams were 82.74, 81.78, and 78.02 per cent, respectively.
