A massive fire broke out at a shoe showroom in the D Park area of Rohtak, Haryana. The flames quickly spread to nearly a dozen adjoining shops, causing extensive damage. Firefighters were rushed to the spot, but the blaze remained uncontrolled for several hours.
Four people are feared dead in the incident, while concerns remain that others may still be trapped inside the building. Rescue and search operations continued as emergency teams worked through the debris. An official confirmation is awaited.
Relatives of workers employed at the showroom gathered outside the site, anxiously waiting for information about their loved ones. Many were seen pleading with officials for updates as rescue efforts continued.
Congress MP Dipendra Singh Hooda visited the spot and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. He also urged the government to provide compensation to affected shopkeepers and the families of the victims.
Rohtak IG Samardeep Singh said he visited the site to review the situation. He said rescue teams and the administration were making all possible efforts to search the premises and ensure no one remained trapped inside. Firefighters and police personnel worked for hours to bring the blaze under control.
Hooda said the government should extend financial assistance to those who suffered losses due to the fire. Expressing grief over the deaths, he hoped that any remaining trapped persons would be rescued safely.
A family member of one of the showroom employees said his brother was inside the building when the fire broke out. Officials are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire. The exact number of people affected is yet to be officially confirmed.
