Ranchi Police arrested a person on the charge of threatening to kill Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth on Monday. Police sources said that the accused had threatened to kill Sanjay Seth in an inebriated state by phone. The caller had said that he had killed many people and it was the minister's turn.
Again, the accused person sent a message to the Minister stating, “You will be shot”. Seth informed Ranchi and Delhi Police about the threat, after which Ranchi Police became active and a team was formed under the leadership of SSP Chandan Sinha.
Police soon cracked the case and the accused was arrested. Other information about which will be given by the police in a press conference.
Seth was threatened when he was attending the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations organised by the Indian Army in the Drass area of Ladakh.
Notably, this is the second instance when the MoS Defence has been threatened. Earlier in December 2025 some miscreants had demanded an extortion of ₹50 Lakh from Seth.

The criminals had threatened the Ranchi Member of Parliament of serious consequences if the money was not paid within three days.
However, the accused were arrested by Ranchi Police soon after a complaint was launched. It was found that a person from Ranchi was trying to implicate another person by using his phone to threaten the Minister.
