Police have apprehended an individual in Faridabad in connection with a land grabbing case involving alleged use of forged documents, officials said on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Aman Goyal. He was taken into custody on Tuesday night.
The case relates to a plot located in Sector 35, Faridabad, which has remained under dispute for several years.
As per police, the complainant, Mala Sharma, a resident of Delhi, had bought the plot from its original owner. However, soon after completing the purchase, she discovered that the same property had also been sold to Goyal.
Police said the original owner passed away during this period, which further complicated the dispute. Officials said Sharma possessed the original property registry, while Goyal had allegedly purchased the land using only a certified copy of the documents. Sharma later approached the court after Goyal allegedly tried to take possession of the plot.
The legal battle continued for years, with courts ranging from the sessions court to the high court and eventually the Supreme Court ruling in favour of Sharma, police added.
Despite favourable court orders, Sharma allegedly continued to face difficulties in getting relief and eventually approached the police after Goyal reportedly threatened her while claiming to be related to a cabinet minister.
Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered against Goyal at the Sarai Khwaja police station nearly two months ago. Police said that in an attempt to take control of the property, Goyal allegedly prepared a backdated fake agreement in the name of his friend. The document was created in 2024 but was falsely shown as executed in 2023.
After completing the investigation, police arrested Goyal. He will be produced before a court on Wednesday for remand, and further action will be taken against others found involved in the case, officials said.
