Punjab Police on Monday apprehended a suspect connected with an alleged arms and drugs trafficking module, seized seven high-end pistols and 2.1 kg of heroin from him, a senior official said.
“In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a drug and illegal arms smuggling module, arrested one accused, and seized 2.1 kg heroin along with seven sophisticated pistols,” Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav said on X.
Initial probe shows the accused was in touch with a foreign-based smuggler using virtual numbers and was receiving drug and arms consignment supplies for distribution in Punjab, the DGP said.
A case has been registered in Amritsar, and police are now probing backward and forward links to identify others involved in the network.
