A man was reportedly stabbed to death by his nephew over an old land dispute in Ludret village, which falls under the Nagrota Bagwan sub-division of Kangra district, on Sunday morning.

Police said the accused, Sukhbinder Singh, stabbed his uncle Ashok Kumar several times with a knife after a heated argument. The deceased, in his 50s, was going to his work when the incident took place around 8 am.

Though he was rushed to Tanda Medical College by family members and neighbours, Ashok Kumar was declared dead on arrival by doctors.

Kangra DSP Ankit Sharma confirmed Sukhbinder’s arrest and said he was currently being interrogated. Initial investigation suggests that the attack arose from a long-standing property dispute between the two families. Ashok Kumar had previously filed a complaint against his nephew regarding the matter.

The victim had recently built a new house under a government housing scheme and was living there with his wife and two daughters.
