Manipur police nab 2 KCP members for extortion in Imphal

On January 14, Manipur Police apprehended two active members of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (Progressive Wing Group) [KCP (PWG)] during an operation near Machang Bakery Shop in Uripok Mayai Leikai, Imphal west district.

On January 14, Manipur Police arrested two members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Progressive Wing Group) [KCP (PWG)] during an operation near Machang Bakery Shop in Uripok Mayai Leikai, Imphal west district. 


The two were accused of extorting money from shops and showrooms in Imphal.


The arrested men were identified as Khangembam Sanaton Singh, also called Sanatomba or Loya (51), and Thokchom Tiken Singh, also known as Ibungo (43).


The police found the following items with them:

  • Four mobile phones with four SIM cards
  • One side bag
  • Two wallets
  • Two Aadhaar cards
  • One four-wheeler vehicle
  • Cash of Rs 5,140


This incident is part of ongoing efforts by the Manipur government to curb extortion and other illegal activities in the region.
