Punjab Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa expressed deep concern over the erosion of administrative neutrality in the state.

He questioned the presence of the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police on a political stage during the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign at Killi Chahlan in Moga.

While acknowledging that the Punjab Police remains the sole force against criminals, drug lords, gang violence, and extortionists that have plagued the state for decades, Bajwa strongly opposed the current dispensation’s tactics.

“Governance cannot become a spectacle of political endorsement,” he said.

The deployment of top officials and state resources at a partisan event of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and party Chief Arvind Kejriwal, sent a disturbing message to citizens and civil servants alike.

“When the difference between the government and party becomes blurry, respect in public life becomes the first casualty. And it is the dignified citizen who pays all his taxes and yet pays the price,” Bajwa stated.

He accused the Mann government of turning governance and state affairs into a political extension of the party leadership.

Bajwa further criticised the use of government transport — meant to serve the public, students, workers, farmers, and daily commuters — for political rallies.

“At a time when citizens struggle with transportation challenges and rising costs, diverting hundreds of buses for political showmanship to please Kejriwal reflects the misplaced priorities of the Mann government,” he said.

“This doesn’t by any means make it governance but rather theatrics that the people of Punjab fund,” he added.
