Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said she spoke with Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and urged him to expedite the ongoing work on AIIMS Awantipora so that the project is completed without further delay.
In a post on X, Mehbooba Mufti confirmed her interaction with Nadda, saying, “Spoke with Union Health Minister JP Nadda ji and requested him to expedite the ongoing work at AIIMS Awantipora so that it doesn’t get delayed any further. He was kind enough to assure me about its completion well on time.”
She added that although the team working on the project was “toiling day and night", the healthcare scenario across Jammu and Kashmir would receive a massive boost once the flagship institution becomes operational.
Mufti said, “Undoubtedly, the team assigned is toiling day and night, but due to the struggling healthcare system across Jammu and Kashmir, it has become extremely important for AIIMS Awantipora to be operationalised as soon as possible.”
The commencement of services at the institution is expected to bring much-needed relief and quality healthcare to the people, who are otherwise forced to travel to Chandigarh’s PGIMER, AIIMS New Delhi, or Apollo Hospitals for specialised medical treatment.
