Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has urged all political parties to unite and resume dialogue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the restoration of statehood. Mehbooba Mufti has written letters to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra, CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, People’s Conference chief Sajad Gani Lone, AIP president MP Engineer Rashid, AAP leader Mehraj Malik, PDF Chairman Hakeem Yaseen, Panthers Party president Harsh Dev Singh, Shiv Sena leader JK Manish Sahni, and several other Kashmiri Pandit leaders.

In her letter addressed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Mufti wrote, “I had sought an appointment with you but due to your preoccupation it has not been possible. Therefore, I am taking the liberty of writing to you since time is running out and we cannot afford to delay things any further.

Recent breakthroughs achieved by the Leh Apex Body & Kargil Democratic Alliance with the Centre offer an important lesson— only dialogue can deliver meaningful outcomes.”

The letter further states that “Jammu and Kashmir is once again at the crossroads of history, where the pervasive feeling of despair and disillusionment has gripped the state.”

She urged parties to set aside their political differences for the greater good of the people and Jammu and Kashmir as a whole. The issue cannot be used to score political points against one another, as it won’t do any good to the people and politics of the place.
