The body of a 29-year-old Punjabi singer, who had been missing for several days, was recovered from a canal in Ludhiana, police said on Tuesday.
Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, a resident of Jamalpur in Ludhiana, had gone missing on May 13 after leaving home in her car. Her brother later accused Sukhwinder Singh of abducting her.
Family members alleged that Sukhwinder had been pressuring Kaur to marry him even though he was already married.
Police officials said preliminary investigation suggests that Kaur already knew Sukhwinder, who is a resident of Moga district. A police officer stated that Sukhwinder’s father, Pritam Singh, and his associate Karamjit Singh have been apprehended in connection with the case, while Sukhwinder reportedly fled to Canada after allegedly planning the crime.
Police recovered Kaur’s car from the Neelon canal on Sunday, and her body was found a day later on Monday. The body has been sent to the Civil Hospital in Samrala for post-mortem examination. Police said further investigation into the case is ongoing.
