Police launched a search operation on Tuesday after several schools in Mohali, Punjab, received bomb threats via email, with the messages also mentioning Fortis Hospital.
"The threat emails sent to schools also referenced Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where we have conducted anti-sabotage checks. Non-essential services were temporarily suspended, whilst essential services continued," a senior police official in Mohali stated. The official added that police teams are currently conducting thorough inspections within the schools.
Security had already been bolstered around Fortis Hospital following the re-admission of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday evening, just hours after he was initially discharged. Sources indicated Mann was admitted again due to exhaustion.
This incident follows a similar scare on Wednesday, when sixteen private schools in Mohali received bomb threats, forcing evacuations and triggering detailed anti-sabotage checks by police. However, after extensive inspections, no suspicious or explosive materials were discovered at any of the locations.
This latest scare comes hot on the heels of similar threats targeting schools in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, and Haryana. All previous threats have turned out to be hoaxes.
