A 21-year-old, newly married woman was seriously injured after a youth allegedly shot at her in Patti town of Tarn Taran district on Sunday. The woman, identified as Ruby, suffered severe gunshot injuries. She has been admitted to a private hospital in Amritsar, where doctors have described her condition as critical.
Police sources said the incident took place when Ruby was riding on a scooter with her husband. She was sitting behind him. The accused, identified as Karan, who lives in the same area, reportedly stopped them on the way.
Eyewitnesses said Karan allegedly first attacked Ruby’s husband. He then reportedly fired three shots. One bullet hit Ruby in the head and she collapsed on the spot.
Amid the panic, Ruby’s husband ran from the scene. Local residents quickly took her to a nearby hospital. Due to her serious condition, she was later referred to a hospital in Amritsar.
Police officials stated that the motive behind the attack is still not clear. All of them belonged to the same colony in Patti. A case has been registered. Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused. All angles, including personal rivalry, are being investigated.
