Amid recent infiltration attempts by terrorists along the International Border and Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army’s Northern Commander, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, visited troops in Poonch to assess operational preparedness and the prevailing security situation in the region.
The Northern Army Commander praised the grit, professionalism, and high state of preparedness of troops operating in one of the most challenging environments in the country.
In a post on X on Friday, the Northern Command said, “Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Army Commander Northern Command, visited Haribudha, Poonch, to assess the operational readiness of units deployed in the sector on Thursday.”
During his visit to Haribudha, he was given a comprehensive briefing on the security situation and ongoing counterinsurgency efforts.
The Army’s focus has been on enhancing surveillance, rapid response mechanisms and reinforced drills, integrating technology into innovative tactics to be inducted into service.
Sharma also lauded the troops for their steadfast dedication and high state of preparedness and professional excellence in demanding terrain, noting their critical role in strengthening the area’s security apparatus.
Officials said the interaction further motivated the troops and reinforced the Army’s commitment to peace and stability in the region.
