The National People's Party (NPP) has unveiled a list of 30 star campaigners for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections, while also confirming its participation in the by-election to the 28-Koridang seat in Nagaland.
The list, released from the party headquarters in Shillong, features several prominent leaders from across the Northeast. Leading the campaign will be Conrad K. Sangma, who serves as both the Chief Minister of Meghalaya and the party’s national president.
Other senior leaders named as star campaigners include Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar, James K. Sangma and Agatha K. Sangma. The list further comprises key figures such as Rupert Momin, Marcuise N. Marak, M. Rameshwar Singh, Sheikh Noorul Hassan, A. T. Mondal and Marthone J. Sangma, among others.
In addition, leaders including Mmhonlumo Kikon, Loken Khuraijam and Janghemlung Panmei have also been roped in to strengthen the party’s campaign efforts across constituencies.
The party has further named a wide pool of campaigners such as Dr. Mehtab Chandee A. Sangma, Wailadmiki Shylla, Sanjay A. Sangma, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, Thangwang Wangham, M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Paknga Bage, Ian Botham K. Sangma, Dipul R. Marak, Abdus Saleh, Ane U. Khaming, Nickey Nongkhlaw, Taja Bonung, Nabam Rungri and Laxhmi Remo.
Meanwhile, the party’s Central Election Committee has announced three candidates for the Assam Assembly elections. Daniel Langthasa will contest from the 113-Haflong (ST) constituency, Ganseng Sangma from the 28 Boko-Chaygaon (ST) constituency, and Aminul Islam—a former MLA of the All India United Democratic Front—from the 11 Mankachar (General) seat.
For the by-election in Nagaland, the National People's Party has fielded L. Abenjang as its candidate for the 28-Koridang (ST) Assembly constituency.
With this announcement, the party has signaled an intensified push to expand its footprint in both Assam and Nagaland ahead of the upcoming electoral contests.
