Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi interacted with locals at a tea stall in Bhubaneswar on Sunday after participating in the ‘Namo Yuva Run 2025’, a nationwide event organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
The 'Namo Yuva Run' is a flagship campaign by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and forms an integral part of Seva Pakhwada, a period of service observed annually from September 17 to October 2 in honour of the Prime Minister's birthday. Announced on September 7, the campaign’s central theme is a drug-free India. The initiative is set to take place in 75 cities across the country, with more than 10,000 young people participating in each of the 100 simultaneous runs.
Speaking to the media, CM Majhi described the marathon as a significant event with a clear objective. "The ‘Namo Yuva Run’ is a marathon event, and we participated in it. This is linked to the objective of making India and Odisha drug-free… The programme will have a huge impact on the youth,” he said. The Chief Minister added that his visit to the tea stall was an opportunity to engage directly with the public. “At the tea stall, we interacted with many people and talked about their problems,” he stated.
The campaign, led by BJYM National President Tejasvi Surya, has named supermodel and fitness icon Milind Soman as its ambassador. Soman, who was present at the launch along with Surya and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, expressed his delight in being a part of the campaign and its message of freeing India from addiction.
