Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to review preparations for the inventory and valuation of the ornaments held within the Ratna Bhandar (treasure trove) at the Puri Jagannath Temple on Monday.
The review meeting on the sacred treasure is scheduled at 10.00 am. This information was shared on Sunday by Law Minister, Prithiviraj Harichandan. After the meeting, the Chief Minister will review the matter in detail at 1.00 pm.
The Law Minister said that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Ratna Bhandar has already been received. He said that more clarity on the way forward is expected to emerge after the review.
"Regarding the inventory and valuation of ornaments at the Ratna Bhandar, a review meeting is scheduled for 10.00 am on Monday at my office. Furthermore, the Chief Minister has also arranged a review of the matter at 1.00 pm on the same day,” the Law Minister said.
"We received the SOP for the Ratna Bhandar inventory two to three days ago. We are making decisions based on it, and following Monday's reviews — both at my office and with the Chief Minister — we have decided to commence the inventory process very soon,” Minister Harichandan explained.
It is worth noting that the Orissa High Court previously issued significant directives to the Odisha government regarding the inventory and verification of valuables in the 12th-century shrine’s treasure trove. The court ordered that the counting and assessment process must be completed within the next three months, official sources stated on February 12.
In addition, the High Court also issued important guidelines in respect of the inquiry report relating to the allegedly missing keys of the Ratna Bhandar, which was directed to be presented during the forthcoming session of the State Legislative Assembly.
