OGW held in Kulgam, two grenades recovered

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday apprehended an overground worker (OGW) in possession of two hand grenades and posters of banned outfits in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.

 

According to police officials, the arrested individual has been identified as Adil Hussain Lone, son of Mohammad Sadiq Lone and a resident of Mohammadpora, Kulgam. He was caught near his native village during an operation conducted by a police team.

 

Officials said police recovered “two hand grenades and some posters allegedly belonging to banned outfits” from his possession.

 

An FIR under the relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the Explosive Substances Act has been filed against the accused, officials said. Further investigation into the matter is underway, they said.

 

Earlier, on May 2, Pulwama Police, along with the Indian Army and CRPF, arrested a terror associate in the Rajpora area and seized two hand grenades, a Star pistol, a magazine, and live rounds.
