One person has died, while seven others have fallen seriously ill in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district due to suspected poisoning from a wild vegetable. An elderly man in his 60s has died while others are being treated at the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.
According to officials, this appears to be a case of wild vegetables being consumed by the people, which is being suspected as a primary reason.
However, officials have launched an investigation into the matter.
As per reports, two families from Mohra village in Kotranka consumed a wild vegetable on Friday.
However, later in the evening, eight members of the families complained of symptoms of food poisoning, after which they were quickly rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kandi.
After initial examination they were later referred to the GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Hussain (60), while seven other persons, mostly children, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
