A clash between two groups during a community feast in Bihar’s Nalanda district left one person injured and led to the arrest of ten individuals, police officials said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Mafi village when an altercation broke out after a few individuals were allegedly seen urinating near the site of a ‘Bhandara’ (community feast). The dispute soon escalated into a violent confrontation, prompting police intervention, Nalanda Superintendent of Police (SP) Bharat Soni stated.
“The clash erupted around 7:30 pm when one group objected to the actions of a few individuals near the feast area. As tensions rose, violence ensued, resulting in injuries. The police responded swiftly, reaching the spot and bringing the situation under control,” SP Soni said.

The injured person was admitted to a government hospital for treatment and is expected to be discharged on Thursday. A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and ten individuals have been taken into custody, the official confirmed.
Dismissing speculation about a communal motive, SP Soni emphasised that the incident was not religiously driven. “There is no communal angle to the incident, as some reports have suggested,” he asserted.
The police have not disclosed the identity of the injured individual as investigations continue.
