The online registration process for the Char Dham Yatra and Hemkund Sahib pilgrimage in Uttarakhand officially began on Thursday, allowing devotees to secure their slots for the revered religious journey.
Pilgrims planning to visit the sacred Himalayan shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, along with the revered Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib, can now complete their registration through the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council’s official website (registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in), officials confirmed.
The annual Char Dham Yatra, a significant spiritual pilgrimage in Hinduism, is set to commence on April 30 with the ceremonial opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in Uttarkashi district.
These two shrines mark the beginning of the sacred journey that attracts thousands of devotees from across the country and beyond. Following this, the doors of Kedarnath, located in Rudraprayag district, will be opened to pilgrims on May 2.
Badrinath, another prominent shrine in the pilgrimage circuit situated in Chamoli district, will welcome devotees from May 4. The Sikh pilgrimage site of Hemkund Sahib, also nestled in Chamoli district, will open for worshippers on May 25.
Authorities have urged devotees to complete their online registration in advance to ensure a smooth and well-organised pilgrimage experience. Given the high altitude and challenging terrain of these sites, officials have also advised pilgrims to prepare adequately for the journey, keeping health and safety measures in mind.
