A fresh batch of over 900 pilgrims left Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp on Friday morning under stringent security measures, officials said.
The Yatra is ongoing smoothly through the Baltal axis while the pilgrimage on the Pahalgam axis remains suspended.
According to the Zonal Police Control Room, Jammu, the 29th batch comprising 926 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas at 2:59 a.m. in a convoy of 42 vehicles for the Baltal route.
Of these, 693 were males and 178 were females, along with 34 sadhus and 21 sadhvis, who are travelling in 21 buses, three MMVs, 17 LMVs and one two-wheeler.
The convoy passed through Ramban district on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway with foolproof security measures in place.
Additionally, personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Department remained deployed throughout the routes leading to Baltal via Sonamarg.
A previous convoy consisting of 133 pilgrims left the Baltal base camp after performing darshan at the holy cave shrine on Thursday.
As per officials, 110 males, 21 females and two children were part of the small convoy in seven vehicles, including three heavy motor vehicles (HMVs), one LMV and three trucks.
The Yatra this year has broken the previous year’s record, as nearly half a million devotees paid their obeisance at the shrine.
